Times Home & Garden product reviews are done by readers who test products in real-life situations. This week's product review is by Joan Morris, home and garden editor.
n Name of product: Mighty Putty.
nPromises made: Mighty Putty is a bonding expoxy that can be molded into shapes and applied to any nonporous surface for an "everlasting bond." The claim is that it will fix, fill, seal and repair metal, glass, PVC, wood, wall board, ceramics, tile and concrete.
nPromises delivered: Anything that's advertised so heavily on television by the one-and-only Billy Mays makes me a bit skeptical, but after putting Mighty Putty through its paces, I have to agree it's pretty awesome.
nPromises broken: It worked on a variety of surfaces, although the true test will be in how long it holds up.
nGeneral thoughts: Might Putty has a horrible odor when kneeded to activate, but it fades once in use. It comes with disposal rubber gloves, but they don't seem practical when dealing with such a sticky substance. It washed off my hands with just a little scrubbing. I used the putty to adhere two halves of a concrete birdbath that's been repurposed into an outdoor plant stand, and to seal a large crack in the plastic pot. So far, everything is holding.
nOverall
